I painted these zinnias from my backyard on a day when everything else in my life felt settled. I haven't been able to paint as often as I'd like, so I was very happy with how it turned out. The photo reveals more of the canvas than is seen in reality--the paint is thicker. It's among my favorites. It will be going to Milward Farrell sometime this week.
$500 there. From me before it arrives at the gallery, $400 framed. 11x14. SOLD

Old Friends

Sometimes if I sit on a painting that didn't work out as I intended, it emerges
months later as a painting that I now love. Kind of like relationships. Sometimes you have
to step back. The background of this painting is actually the
grey-green of the vase, but somehow I can't pick that up with either camera.
It's 11x14, $400 from me until it's on way to Milward Farrell, where it will
priced at $450 framed.

Red Tulips

I finished the tulip painting and it's a little tighter than I had set out to paint it.
I'll play with it over time but am taking it to Milward Farrell early next week
where it will be part of the MMOCA Gallery Walk show on May 4th.

Today I start a new one. A little looser this time. Maybe tulips again. Maybe the same size.
A litter mate. A friend suggested I walk the neighborhood and photograph tulips from my neighbors' yards. That is on my list, too. I haven't painted from a photo in long time. Eliminates chasing the light around the room. Painting is hard enough! How I respect my plein air painter friends.

Red Tulips, stages 1 - 3

Stage 1-3. Far from over.

Tulips are my favorite flower to paint.
I wish I could say these are from my garden but they're
from the Jenifer St. Market which is almost in my garden.
This painting is 12x24.
Buy it now and you can tell me what background
colors go best in whatever room it will hang.
$600
